During private sessions with Lana, she fuses many modalities. Lana uses her experience in Dance, Pilates, Hatha Yoga, Thai Yoga Body Work and Reiki to customize a session to suite your needs. Whether it is to take your practice or training as an athlete to a higher level or help you move through an injury; your sessions are structured to guide you through a safe journey of reconnecting to your body.
Pilates Group Class
Pilates Barbados: Lana takes a very free spirit approach to her classes. Having been fully certified as a Pilates & Buff Bones Instructor; Lana focuses heavily on alignment and breath to guide you through class giving you what you need to create body awareness, muscular fascia release and core strength while integrating other modalities. Due to a fascination of the body, Lana creates a desire to emphasize proper alignment, injury prevention and a heavy focus on moving through ailments and restrictions, such as Osteoporosis. Whether you are participating in a Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced class, this formula is applied.
Traditionally Props are used in class to modify exercises to assist you in keeping correct alignment and form due to restrictions. However, this is a free-flowing class where many props are used to play with the level of intensity and structure of traditional exercises, as well as incorporating other forms of movement using the Pilates technique as a base.
A combination of modalities and all Body Mekanix classes.
This is a restorative technique which focuses heavily on meditation and gentle forms of restorative yoga poses. Injury, illness and depression are usually stagnant energy stuck in the body. In this class we unwind, release and heal through movement guided by breath and intention.
Anatomy and Kinesiology for Dancers
These classes are all University level and are supported through movement in a studio environment.
This is a way to learn and most importantly, understand the general function of the body through aspects of Anatomy and Kinesiology by applying it to movement. This allows the dancer or mover to fully comprehend an academic necessity in a way in which a mover thinks.
A one hour class is a general overview of joints and how they function during movement.
A two hour workshop is a more detailed look at Functional movement and the relationship between the muscles and joints. This also includes Mio facial release exercises to facilitate injury prevention.
